Optometrists, DOs and industry professionals from near and far gathered at the Stamford Plaza in Auckland for Essilor’s latest New Zealand training event.

A welcome by Essilor ANZ CEO Pierre Longerna was followed by a presentation by the company’s national sales manager Guy Parbury, who challenged the audience to innovate in their practices, drawing reference to industry changes in the 60 years since the Varilux lens was created.

Essilor ANZ professional services director Tim Thurn encouraged the audience to never risk not asking enough questions when communicating with patients. Thurn provided a comparison of lens choices available now compared to in 1990, encouraging optometrists to make full use of these options.

Chair of Cancer Society NZ’s commercial arm, Daffodil Enterprises, Mitch Cuevas shared on the collaboration between Essilor and the charity, before interactive workshops and networking.

Later, a dinner was held to mark the retirement of long-standing ANZ head Phuong Nyugen.
