The 2025 winning CCLS NZ picture: ‘Corneal Tattoo crafted with love’

The annual CCLS NZ photo competition once again attracted a wealth of talent and some strong voting, said CCLS NZ president Adele Jefferies at the 2025 one-day conference in Christchurch. This year, two winners each took home a prize donated by conference sponsors Optimed and CooperVision. The winners were:

• First: Vicky Wang and Tamsyn Clark, Te Whatu Ora Auckland with ‘Corneal tattoo crafted with love’, featuring a corneal tattoo by Dr Simon Dean for a patient intolerant of contact lenses and a surprise ‘love heart’ corneal reflex (above)

• Runner-up: Tui Homer with ‘A post-traumatic mydriasis temporary solution for disabling glare and induced hyperopic astigmatism’.
